Regional Sponsor Migration Scheme (subclass 187)(RSM)

This visa is a permanent employer sponsored visa requiring a job offer in a regional area of Australia. It allows you to work in Australia under one of three streams:

  • the Temporary Residence Transition stream
  • the Direct Entry stream
  • the Agreement stream.

 

Eligibility

You must:

  • be nominated by an approved Australian employer for a job in regional Australia (anywhere except the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong or Melbourne)
  • are under 50 years of age, if you are applying under the Temporary Residence stream, or you are under 45 years of age if you are applying under the Direct Entry stream.
  • meet the skills, qualifications and English language requirements of the position
  • meet the other requirements of one of the streams of this visa.

 

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)

This visa is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers. It allows you to work in Australia under one of three streams:
• the Temporary Residence Transition stream
• the Direct Entry stream
• the Agreement stream.

 

Eligibility

You must:

  • be nominated by an approved Australian employer
  • are under 50 years of age, if you are applying under the Temporary Residence stream, or are under 45 years of age if you are applying under the Direct Entry stream
  • meet the skills, qualifications and English language requirements of the position
  • meet the other requirements of one of the streams of this visa

 

Temporary Employer Sponsored Visa options include:

Temporary Work (Skilled) 457 visa:  This temporary work visa allows the visa holder to work in Australia for a period of up to two or four years, depending on your nominated occupation.

In order to qualify for this visa you must:

  • be sponsored by an employer in Australia (conditions apply)
  • have the skills and qualifications to fulfil a skilled role in the approved business
  • have an occupation which is included on the current STSOL and MLTSSL Lists
  • meet required English language requirements

Furthermore (in addition) your sponsoring business must have:

  • a genuine need for your nominated position and
  • be unable to hire from the local labour market.

 

Training Visa 407 Visa:   This visa is for people who need to either take part in workplace-based training designed to enhance their skills in their current occupation, area of tertiary study, field of expertise or to participate in a professional development training programme in Australia.  This visa is not designed for persons whose sole intention is to work.

Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) 400 visa:   This short stay visa is for people who are highly specialised and want to travel to Australia to do short-term work in Australia.
